Subject: | Jazz Appreciation Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution to designate April 2019 as “Jazz Appreciation Month” in Pennsylvania. Jazz Appreciation Month, or JAM, was created in 2002 at the Smithsonian Museum to herald and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz. This year JAM celebrates jazz beyond borders and honors Nat “King” Cole as an innovator, influencer, and performer who defied racial prejudices to become one of the most successful artists of his time. Please join me in the continued recognition of the invaluable contribution jazz has made to American culture, our Commonwealth’s history, and to social justice movements nationwide. Should you have any questions, please contact Veronica Miller in my office at 717-787-7112. |
