Subject: | Melanoma and Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month Resolution |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating May 2019 as "Melanoma and Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month" in Pennsylvania. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with current estimates that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Recent estimates also show that there will be 192,310 new cases of melanoma diagnosed in the United States in 2019. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. However, with early detection, melanoma and other skin cancers are highly treatable. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution to raise awareness about skin cancer, increasing the chances of early detection. It is vital that skin cancers, and especially melanoma, are treated early. |
