Subject: | Resolution to Designate April 2019 as "School Library Month" in Pennsylvania |
Next week I plan to introduce a resolution designating April 2019 as “School Library Month” in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania’s school libraries are an important asset to our youth as they prepare for their future and learn to become productive members of society. Studies show that students who attend schools with certified librarians score better on reading and writing tests than students in schools without library services. Further, school library programs promote literacy and the enjoyment of reading, and also provide Pennsylvania’s children with access to information and technology. As such, please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to designate April 2019 as “School Library Month” in Pennsylvania to express appreciation to library employees and to encourage all students to explore and take advantage of the services offered at their school libraries. |
