Subject: Fish and Boat - Public Safety
 
I will be introducing legislation to ensure greater safety on Pennsylvania’s waterways. This bill, which will amend the Fish and Boat Code (Title 30), will provide needed consistency across existing law and increase penalties for harmful, reckless behavior. This will be a companion bill to House Bill 1185 sponsored by Representatives Steven Mentzer and Kerry Benninghoff.

The legislation will clarify the penalties and corrective courses of action for those who:
  • Intentionally or recklessly destroy or cause damage to Fish and Boat Commission property
  • Operate motorboats while under the influence of a substance, with a minor on board and/or without the proper safety education certificates
  • Recklessly or with gross negligence cause serious bodily injury to another
We can do more to ensure the safety of anglers, boaters, families and minors who enjoy recreation in our beautiful state. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important bill.
