Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 18, 2019 11:05 AM
From: Senator Scott Martin
To: All Senate members
Subject: Designating September 2019 as "Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

I will be introducing a resolution designating September 2019 as "Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania. This resolution demonstrates our continued support in the ongoing fight children and their families face to beat cancer.

Despite great medical advances over the last several decades, the American Cancer Society says cancer is still the second-leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14. In 2019, 11,060 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Sadly, Pennsylvania is not immune to that statistic.

Children all across our state battle pediatric cancer every day with a courage and determination that inspires us all. I am proud to introduce this resolution to encourage children and their families in their fight and to commend their bravery and grit. The resolution also recognizes the medical professionals who dedicate their lives to healing, comforting and supporting Pennsylvania's pediatric cancer patients and families.

Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution to show our support for our family members, neighbors, friends and colleagues affected by pediatric cancer.

Introduced as SR201
