Subject: | Fire & EMS Grant Program Reauthorization |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to reauthorize the Fire & EMS Grant Program, which is set to expire on June 30, 2020. This legislation will: *Reauthorize the Fire & EMS Grant Program until June 30, 2024, *Ensure that the Fire Commissioner is the lead administrator of the Fire & EMS Grant program, *Require the Fire Commissioner to post Fire & EMS Grant program information online, *Allow grants to be used for Recruitment & Retention programs, Community Risk Reduction programs, and Volunteer Firefighter Length of Service Award programs, *Require fire companies to respond to at least 15 calls annually to be eligible, and *Require the Fire Commissioner to provide an annual report to the House and Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committees. Last year, the SR 6 Commission made 92 recommendations to improve our Fire & EMS services in Pennsylvania. This legislation advances several of those goals. Please join me in cosponsoring this important legislation. If you have any questions, please call Scot Pitzer at 717-787-4651. |
