Subject: | Resolution Designating March 25, 2020, as "Female Veterans Day" in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, we will introduce a resolution designating March 25, 2020, as “Female Veterans Day” in Pennsylvania. There are approximately two million women veterans in the United States, or 10 percent of the total veteran population nationwide, and 75 percent of them have served during wartime. More than 60,000 Pennsylvania residents are female veterans. After completing their service, female veterans return to our communities, applying the skills they gained in the armed forces as small businesswomen, teachers, and civic leaders. The Pennsylvania Commission for Women has asked the Senate to designate March 25, 2020, as “Female Veterans Day” in Pennsylvania and join in recognizing the service and sacrifices of Pennsylvania women in the interests of our nation, during both times of peace and war. |
