Subject: | Establishing the Office of Consumer Advocate for Health Insurance |
As insurance companies become more concerned with utilization in order to keep premiums from skyrocketing, Pennsylvanians may find themselves fighting to access their benefits. And, as health insurance becomes more expensive, getting the full benefit of one’s health insurance is ever more important. For these reasons, and more, I believe it is time we create the Office of Consumer Advocate for Health Insurance. The Consumer Advocate for Health Insurance will be housed in the office of the Attorney General and appointed by the Attorney General. The advocate will serve a six-year term with a two-term term limit. Additionally, the salary for this position will be set by the Executive Board. Once an appointment is made, the Consumer Advocate for Health Insurance will have the following duties:
