Subject: | Increasing Inspections and Direct Care Hours in Long-Term Care Nursing Facilities |
Residents of long-term care nursing facilities deserve to receive high-quality care. Unfortunately, too often we hear reports of a facility that fails to meet this basic expectation - meaning loved ones are not receiving the care they deserve.
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed several opportunities to improve Pennsylvania’s health care system and provide better patient outcomes to residents of long-term care nursing facilities. I will be introducing legislation to take advantage of two such opportunities, which are to require additional inspections of long-term care nursing facilities and to increase the number of direct care hours that a facility resident receives.
By incorporating these two small changes into our health care landscape we will better protect patients in the COVID-19 era and beyond. Please join me in supporting a better long-term health care system by supporting this legislation.
