Subject: | Modernization of the Workforce Development Act |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would amend the Workforce Development Act (2001) to bring our state law in compliance with the federal requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, commonly referred to as “WIOA”. WIOA seeks to improve the workforce development system through innovation and alignment of employment, training, and education throughout the country. The act calls for the creation of state and local level workforce development boards, all of which are tasked with creating and maintaining effective programs, sharing best practices, and training U.S. workers for high-paying and family sustaining jobs. My bill would bring our state law into compliance with WIOA. Uniformity and consistency are key in the sharing of best practices, maintenance, and promotion of effective programs. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece legislation. |
