Subject: | Reflectors on Self-Propelled Wheelchairs and Electrical Mobility Devices |
Wheelchair users are more likely to die in collisions with cars than other pedestrians. This means that people in Pennsylvania who use wheelchairs on sidewalks and roads are at high risk of being injured and killed. With the safety of these individuals in mind, I am introducing legislation that would require wheelchairs and other electrical mobility devices to have red reflectors that will make them more visible to drivers. I am hopeful that this requirement will minimize tragic accidents. The well-being of Pennsylvanians is of utmost importance. It is critical that we do everything in our power to keep our citizens safe and out of harm’s way. Therefore, please join me in creating this safeguard for individuals using wheelchairs, drivers, and other individuals sharing the road. |
