Subject: | Apprenticeship Investment Incentive Program |
As part of the upcoming Commonwealth COVID Comeback legislative package, I plan to introduce legislation to establish an Apprenticeship Investment Incentive Program. Apprenticeship programs provide students paid work experience and classroom instruction, offering students a career pathway in critical skilled trades. Apprenticeship programs also give companies the ability to recruit, train, and retain a diverse and highly skilled workforce. This proposal will provide tax credits to businesses that make contributions to Apprenticeship Investment Program Sponsors. Business contributions can be used to purchase industry-standard equipment and educational materials to provide on-the-job-training and related technical instruction. Jobs in the skilled trades are our Commonwealth’s jobs of the future and will play a key role in our post-pandemic economy. Partnering business investment with post-secondary education opportunities like apprenticeship programs will help fill the skilled jobs of tomorrow, today. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to provide resources for apprenticeship program opportunities in our Commonwealth. |
