Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 4, 2021 12:24 PM
From: Senator Maria Collett
To: All Senate members
Subject: Greek Independence Day in Pennsylvania

As a proud Greek American, I plan to introduce a resolution in the near future to designate March 25, 2021 as Greek Independence Day in Pennsylvania and to honor 2021 as the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence. The impact of Greece on the United States is undeniable. Our Founding Fathers drew upon Greek principles and ideals when creating our bold experiment in Democracy. I can think of no better way to honor the influence of Greece upon our form of government than to celebrate their independence in Pennsylvania, the birthplace of the United States.

Please join me in recognizing the significant role that Greek Americans have played in the economic, cultural and social development of the Commonwealth.

Introduced as SR45
