Subject: | Resolution recognizing February 21 through February 27, 2022, as National Eating Disorders Awareness Week |
We will be introducing a resolution recognizing February 21 through February 27, 2022, as National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAwareness Week) is an annual campaign to educate the public about the realities of eating disorders and to provide hope, support, and visibility to individuals and families affected by eating disorders. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness and approximately 30 million Americans struggle at some point in their lives with an eating disorder. Young people between the ages of 15 and 24 with anorexia have 10 times the risk of dying compared to their same-aged peers. Unfortunately, myths and misinformation keep people from getting the help they need. This NEDAwareness Week, we invite you to See the Change, Be the Change. Celebrating twenty years as the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), #NEDAwareness Week 2022 is an opportunity to #SeeTheChange by recognizing change within the ever-evolving eating disorders field, and to #BeTheChange through advocacy, awareness, and community building. We hope that you will join us in co-sponsoring this resolution to raise awareness and support those affected by eating disorders. |
