Subject: | Pennsylvania School Supplies Sales Tax Holiday |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to provide a sales tax holiday for Pennsylvanians who will be purchasing school supplies as students return to school. As many of you know, for many school districts, children will start returning to school in August and parents will soon begin purchasing school supplies so that their children are properly prepared. However, with inflation on the rise, purchasing materials for school can create a burden on families who are doing their best to manage their household finances. Having a back-to -school sales tax holiday will lower the cost of school supplies for families with children in kindergarten through 12th grade, teachers and college students. Cutting the cost for the most essential items needed for educational success is best for Pennsylvania. The school supplies sales tax holiday will be effective for the entire month of August 2022. Tax-exempt supplies will include school supplies like pens, notebooks and binders, school art supplies like paints and paintbrushes and instructional materials like textbooks and workbooks. Also included will be computers and school computer supplies like printers and storage equipment. I hope that you will join me in co-sponsoring this very important legislation. |
