Subject: | Veteran Memorial Marker Foundation Fees |
The Second-Class County Code currently has no limit on what cemeteries can charge for memorial marker foundations. Some cemeteries are charging prohibitively high fees and, as a result, families of veterans are being overcharged. Additionally, in some instances veteran graves are not even being identified. On behalf of the families of deceased veterans, I believe we should limit fees cemeteries can charge for foundations for markers commemorating deceased veterans. The ceiling should be $250.00. It is unfair to those who have served our country, and their survivors for cemeteries to charge excessive fees for a foundation that will help to memorialize and honor our lost veterans. The $250.00 will more than adequately cover the costs associated with the foundation. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation and in showing support for our veteran families. Thank you. |
