Subject: Drug Advertisement Ban Legislation
 
It is regrettably commonplace in our Commonwealth for our constituents to be bombarded with advertisements for pharmaceuticals.  These commercials can misinform patients, overemphasize benefits while minimizing risks and possibly encourage overuse of the medications that they promote. Additionally, the large expenditures these advertisements require is inevitably paid for by consumers.
 
Despite such advertisements being historically opposed by the American Medical Association, they remain pervasive in our society.  In the near future I will be introducing legislation to prohibit pharmaceutical advertisements in the Commonwealth, and I hope you will consider cosponsoring this legislation
