Subject: | Fishing Licenses – Persons Who Are Paraplegic or Similarly Disabled |
Pennsylvania is home to 85,000 miles of rivers and streams as well as thousands of lakes and ponds, presenting a wealth of fishing opportunities for nearly every level of interest. However, those with severe disabilities are often unable to participate in this recreational activity. Many fishing manufacturers have developed new aids and specialized equipment to help disabled anglers, which has renewed interest in fishing among many who never thought they would have an opportunity to fish again. In order to further encourage those with severe disabilities to participate in fishing activities, I plan to reintroduce legislation that would amend Title 30 (Fish) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to exempt persons who are paraplegic or similarly disabled in the lower extremities from obtaining a fishing license to lawfully fish in Pennsylvania. Please join me in support of this important legislation. |
