| ln the near future, I will be introducing legislation aimed at fixing the school bus driver shortage by creating a school bus driver tax credit. Pennsylvania continues its struggle to hire school bus drivers. By some estimates, there is a need for nearly 3,000 bus drivers to meet the needs of our schools. When we think of our schools, we often think of teachers, administrators, and the building itself. lt's time we make the men and women who take our children to and from school every day a priority, and acknowledge the essential role they play in the education process as well. I will be introducing legislation that will create the School Vehicle Driver Tax Credit Program. The program establishes an incentive, in the form of a $2,500 tax credit, for individuals to become school bus drivers. It's important to ensure our children have access to safe and reliable school transportation and we thank those who do this work. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important legislation. |
