Subject: | Designation Bridge Key 7178- as Staff Sergeant Jae Sik Moon Memorial Bridge |
Staff Sergeant Jae Sik Moon was born in South Korea, but spent most of his life as a Pennsylvania resident. Immediately upon graduating from Neshaminy High School in Bucks County, he enlisted in the United States Army. His dream was to use tuition money from the GI Bill and ultimately become an FBI agent. On Christmas Day in 2006, Staff Sergeant Jae S. Moon was serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Baghdad, Iraq, when an IED detonated near his vehicle, mortally wounding him. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. In recognition of Staff Sergeant Jae S. Moon’s valiant service and sacrifice, I will be introducing legislation to designate the bridge carrying State Route 2018 over I-295 in Middletown Township, Bucks County, as the Staff Sgt. Jae S. Moon Memorial Bridge. It is my hope that this commemoration will offer some comfort to his friends, family, and community as they continue to grieve this immeasurable loss. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation to honor this local hero. |
