Subject: | A Holistic Approach to Trauma Support |
It is no secret that trauma is detrimental to our children’s well-being. We can all agree that our schools are critical locations where our young people develop essential functional and social skills. Schools have invested time and resources to become trauma-informed learning institutions, however, we have not updated our processes for how schools become aware of, maintain, utilize, and protect this very important and personal information about student trauma. It is for these reasons that I plan to introduce a legislative bill package aimed at providing a series of measures designed to support our children in the school setting. This series of legislation would, among other things:
Pennsylvania has previously worked to mitigate trauma that our children face, but now is the moment to fully achieve this goal. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation and let us affirm our resolve to support every child in the state. |
