Subject: | Modernize and Improve the Industrial Resource Centers Program’s Statute |
Please join me in co-sponsoring legislation to modernize and improve the statute governing Industrial Resource Centers. Industrial Resource Centers are nonprofit organizations that have been successfully providing critical services to the Commonwealth’s manufacturers since 1988. The Industrial Resource Centers help manufacturers identify, assess, select, implement, and optimize techniques and technologies to grow. This legislation would require that the geographic coverage of newly approved Industrial Resource Centers may not overlap with existing centers. An annual report on the impact of the program on the Commonwealth’s manufacturing sector would be compiled and published by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Further, the statute governing the Industrial Resource Center program (Act 31 of 2001) would be re-organized for clarity, updated to match DCED’s current practices, and consolidated into the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. I look forward to working with you on this important legislation. |
