Subject: | National Infertility Awareness Week – April 21-27, 2024 |
Globally, approximately 1 in 6 people experience infertility in their lifetime. Roughly 9% of men and 11% of women have experienced fertility issues, and infertility affects individuals of all ages and races. Couples facing infertility can feel alone as they carry the deep pain and heartache of infertility. There is still a stigma attached to discussing infertility openly, which can cause individuals to experience feelings of anger, guilt, sadness, depression, anxiety and loss of self-confidence and self-esteem. For those individuals seeking treatment for infertility, raising awareness will help to reduce this stigma. For these reasons, I will soon be introducing a resolution designating April 21-27, 2024, as “National Infertility Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania to help break the stigma attached to infertility and to show support for those individuals who seek ethically conducted and medically appropriate methods of assisted reproductive technologies, such as In vitro fertilization (IVF) or Intrauterine insemination (IUI), to build a family. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
