Subject: | Sarah “Marie” Blose Rorabaugh Memorial Bridge |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation designating a bridge carrying U.S. Route 219 over the West Branch Susquehanna River in Burnside Borough, Clearfield County as the Sarah “Marie” Blose Rorabaugh Memorial Bridge. Sarah “Marie” Blose Rorabaugh was born on December 6th, 1919, in Montgomery Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Montgomery Township “Arcadia” High School in 1935 at the age of 16. She then went on to pursue a teaching degree from Indiana Teachers College, now known as Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1938. Sarah “Marie” Blose Rorabaugh joined the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services (WAVES) on August 24th, 1944, and served during WWII as a Mailman 3rd Class. She was honorably discharged and was awarded the Ribbon of Victory Medal for her service. Sarah “Marie” Blose Rorabaugh passed away at her home on May 31st, 2010, in Burnside Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. I hope you will sponsor this legislation and join me in recognizing this accomplished woman. |
