MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Private School Students Participating in Extracurricular Activities at Public Schools

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will require a public school district of residence of a student attending a private school, to allow the student to participate in extracurricular activities at the public school. A student will be permitted to participate if they are able to meet all the requirements for participation in the activity and the private school does not offer the same activity.

Under current law, both charter and home school students are permitted to participate in extracurricular activities at a public school. I believe that private school students should be able to participate as well.

Please consider co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.

Introduced as HB2297
