Subject: Insurance Coverage for Interprofessional Consultation
 
 
Diagnosing a condition is not often straightforward and there are challenges in finding the right answers from the right doctors. Fortunately, physicians can consult their colleagues for help, and this is often done virtually. But virtual consultations between physicians are not always covered by insurers, and this can present financial barriers to getting the accurate diagnosis or medical advice that a patient needs.
 
I am introducing legislation which would require health insurance policies in Pennsylvania to cover interprofessional consultation with medical professionals. This change will help Pennsylvanians get the answers they need about their medical care, which can reduce the cost of care by getting a patient directly to an accurate diagnosis rather than trying treatments which turn out to be unrelated to their condition.
