Subject: | "Year of the Franklin Institute" Resolution |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution designating the year of 2024 as the “Year of the Franklin Institute” in recognition of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Franklin Institute of the State of Pennsylvania. Founded on February 5, 1824, the Franklin Institute is the most visited museum in this Commonwealth and a top-five tourist destination in the City of Philadelphia. It is one of the leading science centers in the country, and its honor roll includes many notable award laureates such as Nikola Tesla, Marie and Pierre Curie, Orville Wright, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Frank Lloyd Wright, Stephen Hawking, Jane Goodall and Bill Gates. The Franklin Institute’s partnerships with cultural organizations and corporations support unique collaborative outreach initiatives and events, including youth programs that build leadership skills, provide mentorship opportunities and open paths to formal education and careers in science and technology. Please join us in commending the Franklin Institute as a prominent educational and cultural resource and an anchor of the local economy. |
