Subject: World Vitiligo Day - June 25, 2024 - Resolution
 
Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition that causes loss of pigment from areas of the skin and results in irregular white spots or patches. The exact cause of vitiligo remains unknown, however, the condition affects between two to five million Americans and can affect individuals of all ages, genders, and races. Although vitiligo is not contagious, many individuals with vitiligo experience stigmatization, discrimination, and bullying due to a lack of public understanding about the condition.
 
In order to bring attention to the need for recognition, research, and understanding of all individuals living with vitiligo, I will be introducing a resolution to designate June 25, 2024, as World Vitiligo Day in Pennsylvania.
 
Please join me in recognizing World Vitiligo Day by acknowledging the importance of promoting public awareness about vitiligo and support for those affected by the condition.
