Subject: Free Hunting and Fishing Licenses for Peacetime Veterans with a Disability

Serving as home for nearly 800,000 veterans, Pennsylvania has a responsibility to honor its former members of the armed forces, especially those who have incurred a disability through their military service. However, Pennsylvania law currently only allows veterans with a disability who served in an armed conflict to be awarded free hunting and fishing licenses, while peacetime veterans with a disability must pay for these licenses every year.

Peacetime veterans with a service-related disability deserve the same benefits as those who served in an armed conflict. That is why I plan to introduce legislation that would give peacetime veterans with a disability the same eligibility criteria for free or discounted hunting and fishing licenses as war and armed conflict veterans. It is time we show our appreciation to the peacetime veterans for their hard work and selfless service they have provided to the Commonwealth.

Veterans across our state should know that we are grateful for their service, so please join me in providing free and discounted licenses to the thousands of peacetime veterans with a disability throughout Pennsylvania.
