Subject: | Regulating After-Hours Clubs |
After-hours clubs operate throughout our great Commonwealth and allow individuals to continue drinking and socializing long after the 2:00 AM deadline by which our licensed bars and clubs are required to close in Pennsylvania. These establishments have long been a source of contention among communities, and often lead to noise complaints by neighbors, and sometimes incidents of violence including shootings and other physical attacks. Although they allow alcohol consumption they are not licensed and do not fall under the purview of the PLCB or Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement. Therefore, I will be introducing legislation to regulate these after-hours clubs which permit the consumption of alcohol on premises. This legislation will give the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement the authority to ensure the safety of both patrons of after-hours clubs and the community in which these clubs reside. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation which will promote the overall safety of communities throughout Pennsylvania by granting law enforcement the necessary tools to ensure that certain standards for health and safety are met in after-hours clubs. |
