Subject: | Expansion of Live Poker Games |
While 17 casinos are currently operating in Pennsylvania and largely have a monopoly over gaming, I have become aware that several do not offer live poker games in which players compete against one another rather than the dealer. My legislation will eliminate the monopoly on these poker games by expanding those who may be certified to host such games under the regulation of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). By implementing this expansion, we will be creating new economic and charitable opportunities within the Commonwealth and make poker more accessible to Pennsylvanians. My legislation will allow a variety of venues, such as bars, taverns, and clubs, and other entities permitted to conduct small games of chance, to conduct live poker on their licensed premises. To ensure the integrity of live poker, entities would be required to be certified by the PGCB and comply with their regulations, which include security and training procedures. This legislation will expand the availability and potential of poker beyond solely casinos, allow more businesses to partake in this industry, and allow more Pennsylvanians to conveniently play this game. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation to expand live poker to more Pennsylvanians and create a new opportunity for many businesses and charitable organizations. |
