Subject: | Giving School Administrators in Pittsburgh the Right to Collectively Bargain |
School administrators, such as principals and vice principals, play a vital role in the success of students. These individuals are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating school systems and policies to ensure the success of all students. Principals and vice principals working in the School District of Philadelphia have been authorized to organize since 1996. The Pittsburgh Public School system is the largest public school system in Allegheny County and the second largest in Pennsylvania, with 56 schools and over 20,000 students. However, these school administrators do not have the ability to collectively bargain for improved workplace conditions. I will be introducing legislation that will add Pittsburgh Public Schools to the list of school districts whose administrators are authorized to organize under the Administrative Code. Please join me in supporting this vital legislation to ensure school administrators in the two largest school districts have the same right to organize. |
