Subject: | Electronic Filing of Campaign Finance Reports |
Soon, I will be introducing legislation that will require all candidates for office and all political action committees in Pennsylvania to electronically file their campaign finance reports utilizing the Department of State’s online filing system. Pennsylvania would join 32 other states who already require electronic submission. Currently, candidates and committees have the option of filing their campaign finance reports through paper submission. This is outdated, costly, and inefficiently necessitates Department of State staff to upload copies to the Department’s website. It also creates unnecessary delays to the public’s access to candidate reports. This legislation will strengthen transparency, decrease bureaucratic inefficiencies, and modernize Pennsylvania’s campaign finance reporting system. Please join me as a co-sponsor. |
