Subject: | Resolution Designating March 8, 2023 as International Women's Day |
In the near future, I will re-introduce a resolution recognizing "International Women's Day" in the Commonwealth. #EmbraceEquity is the 2023 theme for this year's March 8th international celebration. The aim of this year's campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren't enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action. International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900's, and annually on March 8th, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. This day strives to acknowledge the economic, political, and social achievements of women throughout history and it is my belief that our Commonwealth should join in recognizing these accomplishments and how vital women are to our communities. I encourage you to join me as a co-sponsor. |
