Subject: | Updates to Act 108 - The PA Rural Health Redesign Center Authority Act |
In the near future, we will introduce legislation making changes to Act 108 of 2019 known as the Pennsylvania Rural Health Redesign Center Authority (RHRCA) Act. Over three years into its administration, the RHRCA has triumphed over changes to federal and state leadership and oversight bodies, an international COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath on our health care delivery system, and provided countless hours of technical assistance and support to the Commonwealth, our General Assembly, our hospitals, and our federal partners at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In this time, they have continued to find new and innovative ways to assist Pennsylvania’s rural hospitals in remaining viable in their local communities and have thus sustained access to quality health care for those they serve. The changes we are proposing to Act 108 will include staggering the terms and expertise of the RHRCA’s Board of Directors and bolstering the Rural Health Redesign Center Fund established in the Act. Both of these changes will do much to ensure the longevity and success of the RHRCA and its partnering hospitals. Partner hospitals include: Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Barnes-Kasson County Hospital, Butler Health System - Clarion Hospital, Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber, Endless Mountains Health Systems, Fulton County Medical Center, Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, Highlands Hospital, Indiana Regional Medical Center, Meadville Medical Center, Monongahela Valley Hospital, Olean General Hospital - Bradford Regional Medical Center, Punxsutawney Area Hospital, Penn Highlands Tyrone Hospital, UPMC Kane Hospital, Washington Health System Greene, Washington Hospital, and Wayne Memorial Hospital. Please join us in cosponsoring this important legislation. |
