Subject: | National Library Week in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, we will be introducing a resolution designating April 23 through April 29, 2023, as National Library Week in Pennsylvania. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “There’s More to the Story.” Libraries are full of stories in a variety of formats from picture books to large print, audiobooks to ebooks, and more. But there's so much more to the story. Libraries bring communities together for entertainment, education, and connection through book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, crafting classes, and lectures. Libraries also provide internet and technology access, literacy skills, and support for businesses, job seekers, and entrepreneurs. Libraries are an integral part of our communities across the Commonwealth – offering resources and services that create opportunities for learning, support literacy and enhance education. Please join us in recognizing and celebrating the libraries across our Commonwealth by cosponsoring this resolution. |
