MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 11, 2023 10:01 AM
From: Senator David G. Argall
To: All Senate members
Subject: Honoring Local, Fallen PennDOT Workers

Since 1970, 90 employees from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) lost their lives in the line of duty.

In order to honor the memory of ten, local workers from District 5 who lost their lives while in the line of duty, I will introduce legislation to name a bridge after each of the following workers:

  • William Hoffman – lost in the line of duty on October 1, 1970.
  • Joseph Walker – lost in the line of duty on December 1, 1970.
  • Charles Gardner – lost in the line of duty on September 17, 1974.
  • Ralph Strubinger – lost in the line of duty on October 4, 1977.
  • Wilbur Bohn – lost in the line of duty on December 12, 1979.
  • Joseph Zienkiewicz – lost in the line of duty on June 22, 1981.
  • Gordon Brink – lost in the line of duty on June 13, 1983.
  • Walter Skubel – lost in the line of duty on March 18, 1986.
  • Raphael Rivera – lost in the line of duty on September 7, 2000.
  • Caitlin McGarry – lost in the line of duty on April 26, 2017.
Please join me in support of this legislation to honor the memory of these ten workers.

Introduced as SB900
