Subject: | Updating Requirements and Tax Eligibility for CRIZ Programs |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to update the current requirements and tax eligibility for the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone (CRIZ) program. Act 52 of 2013 established the CRIZ program. This program has successfully redeveloped old, abandoned properties while creating jobs and generating millions in local revenue. State and local taxes which are collected in the CRIZ stay in the local community to further spur economic development. The cities of Lancaster, Bethlehem and Tamaqua have seen tremendous improvement since being awarded a CRIZ. This legislation will add requirements of the CRIZ authority board members, include insurance premiums tax as an eligible tax under the program, and clarify current procedures for transferring parcels in and out of a zone. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to update this very successful program in Pennsylvania. |
