Subject: | Wreaths Across America Day 2024 |
We will soon introduce a resolution designating December 14, 2024, as “Wreaths Across America Day” in Pennsylvania. The Wreaths Across America project began in 1992, and is now an annual tradition where Maine balsam fir remembrance wreaths are placed on the two million graves of the fallen heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery and 4,225 additional locations in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad, while saying the name of each veteran aloud and thanking them for their service. Its aim is remembering these brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces; honoring those who have served; and teaching our children the value of freedom. From the Revolutionary War to current day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters who came from all walks to life to put their lives on the line for our freedoms. In many homes, there is an empty seat at the table for the one who is serving or made the ultimate sacrifice. There is no better time to express our appreciation than during the bustling holiday season when it is often the most difficult time for these families. We have hosted a ceremony at the Capitol the past several years to bring attention to this day and wonderful program of Wreaths Across America, and we will provide details on future events as they become available. Please join us in honoring our fallen veterans and supporting their families. Thank you. |
