Subject: | Recognizing March as National Social Work Month in Pennsylvania |
I will soon offer a resolution designating March as "National Social Work Month" in Pennsylvania to recognize the widespread impacts of social work professionals. A social worker’s dedication to empowering individuals, families, and communities to reach their full potential is felt nationwide in our schools, hospitals, military, child welfare agencies, community centers, and all levels of government. There are very few roles that have an impact in such diverse settings and for such diverse populations. Because of that, social workers must be dedicated, passionate, and resilient. Every single day, social workers work to improve their communities through positively touching the lives of the people around them in acts such as assisting veterans’ reentry into civilian life, strengthening struggling families, helping individuals access treatment, and even just providing an empathetic ear for someone in need. I hope you will join me in recognizing the role these professionals have in improving our lives and communities. |
