Subject: | Allowing Hayrides to Cross Undivided Highways |
Agritourism is a combination of Pennsylvania’s two largest industries: agriculture and tourism. Farms that host agritourism offer a variety of services including farm retail opportunities, dining options, agricultural education, agricultural entertainment, and even agricultural lodging. One of the most popular attractions at farms that host visitors is a hayride - but if a farm owns property on both sides of an undivided highway, it is illegal for them to take hayride passengers from one side of the road to the other. In order to fix this problem, I will introduce legislation allowing vehicles pulling a hayride to cross an undivided highway if: · a guarantee that a quick and safe crossing can be made; · land on both sides of the undivided highway is owned by the same entity; and · the vehicle comes to a complete stop before crossing the road. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to support our agritourism industry. |
