Subject: | Resolution Designating March 8, 2024, as International Women's Day |
In the near future, I will re-introduce a resolution recognizing "International Women's Day" in the Commonwealth. #InspireInclusion is the theme for this year's March 8th international celebration. The aim of this year's campaign theme is to inspire others to understand, value, and seek out women’s inclusion. Women of all backgrounds continue to face barriers when seeking leadership roles in the workplace and in our communities. History has shown that the inclusion of women in these roles leads to better outcomes and greater innovation. International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900's, and annually on March 8th, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. This day strives to acknowledge the economic, political, and social achievements of women throughout history and it is my belief that our Commonwealth should join in recognizing these accomplishments and how vital women are to our communities. I encourage you to join me as a co-sponsor. |
