Subject: Fort Indiantown Gap Police Act 120 Certification
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to allow Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG) police officers to be Act 120 certified under the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC). This would provide parity with every other municipal police department, school police department, and the Capitol police.

Currently, FIG police officers complete all the same certification requirements but are never assigned numbers by MPOETC because they are not clearly defined in Title 53.  

This legislation will prevent FIG police officers from having to retake the certification exam if they would choose to transfer to any other police department.  It will also help with recruitment efforts by Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG)’s police department.

In a time when police officers are desperately needed, please join me in eliminating an unnecessary burden for these officers.
