MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 24, 2024 12:31 PM
From: Senator Frank A. Farry and Sen. Steven J. Santarsiero, Sen. Maria Collett
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution for the 50th Anniversary of BAPS North America

We are offering a resolution to recognize the 50th Anniversary of BAPS North America. BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha (“BAPS”) is a worldwide Hindu denomination dedicated to fostering faith, inspiring service, and promoting better living, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, established the first BAPS Hindu mandir in the United States of America on August 4, 1974 in New York City. 2024 marks fifty years of service and faith in the United States for BAPS.

Over the last fifty years, BAPS has grown to over 100 mandirs across the United States. These mandirs offer a welcoming and spiritual space for thousands of families, as well as worship, fellowship, communal meals, education, and activities for young and old, creating a true home for the faithful. Many within this religious community live in our great Commonwealth and have worked to serve our communities through health fairs, food drives, and disaster relief work.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution to recognize the beautiful contributions of the BAPS community on their 50th anniversary in the United States.
