Subject: Special Prosecutor for Crimes against Police, Fire, and EMS First Responders
 
Our first responders are the backbone of safe and prosperous communities. When people commit violence or even kill our first responders, this rattles our communities to their core and makes it harder to do their jobs which is ultimately to keep our communities safe. When the perpetrators of these crimes are not sufficiently charged or prosecuted, it can embolden further crimes and compromise the morale of first responders and create outrage in the community and with their families.
 
The District Attorney for the City of the First Class has shown to be more favorable to criminals then victims. The victims in these cases are the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our families and communities safe. I am proposing legislation that will create a special prosecutor to oversee crimes occurring against police, law enforcement, and first responders within the City of Philadelphia.
