MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 17, 2024 02:12 PM
From: Senator Scott E. Hutchinson
To: All Senate members
Subject: Honoring the Memory of Corey Comperatore

It is with profound respect and deep sorrow that we honor the memory of Corey Comperatore, a man whose courage and dedication to both his family and his country are unparalleled. Corey’s actions during the attempted assassination of the former President of the United States serve as a testament to his unwavering bravery and selflessness.

On July 13, 2024, three individuals were wounded while exercising their right to express and support their political views when attending the Butler County presidential rally. Two participants were critically injured, and Corey lost his life shielding his family from harm.

Corey was a devoted husband and father, survived by his wife and two daughters. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his final act was a powerful demonstration of that love. Describing him best, as pulled straight from his obituary “His courage was not the loud, boisterous kind; it was the courage of quiet resilience, the strength to be vulnerable, and the bravery to lead with love. Corey died a hero to his family and a hero to his country.”

Corey was a former Chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company in Sarver, Pennsylvania. His career was marked by dedication, leadership, and a commitment to serving others. As a firefighter, Corey faced numerous dangers, always placing the safety and well-being of others above his own. This same spirit of selflessness defined his final moments.

Please join me by co-sponsoring a condolence resolution to honor Corey Comperatore’s memory and condemning all acts of political violence. Let us remember and celebrate his life, his service, and his ultimate sacrifice for his family. All citizens deserve the right to assemble without fear of retribution or violence.
