Subject: | Resolution Recognizing November 2024 as Care at Home Month |
I am introducing a resolution that recognizes the month of November as Care at Home Month. Home care aides and direct care workers provide crucial support for the older adults, and those with disabilities, who need assistance with daily activities, but prefer to remain in their homes. Hospice care workers provide critical end-of-life and palliative care to terminally ill patients and their families. With home health professionals, individuals can receive medical services and therapies in their own homes. The need for the services provided by these professionals will only increase in the coming years. Pennsylvania’s population of older adults, for example, is growing rapidly. By 2030, it is projected that one in three Pennsylvanians will be over the age of 60. There are currently 375,000 Pennsylvanians working as home care, home health and hospice professionals. Meanwhile, more than 500,000 Pennsylvanians of all ages receive home-based care during any given month. This resolution recognizes the dedication of these professionals and highlights their crucial role in caring for some of our most vulnerable citizens. Please join me in sponsoring this resolution. |
