MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 4, 2024 11:46 AM
From: Representative Dane Watro
To: All House members
Subject: Exempting income from Pennsylvania National Guard service from the Personal Income Tax (Former HB 2239)

I am reintroducing legislation (HB 2239 from last Session) that would exempt all income derived from service in the Pennsylvania National Guard from the Commonwealth’s Personal Income Tax. It is the service and sacrifice of the brave individuals in our armed forces that ensure our country and communities stay safe and prosperous. In honor of those sacrifices, it is my hope that we may reward these heroes for their bravery and valor and exempt them from the Personal Income Tax.

Whether active duty or part time, our great nation relies on dedicated military service members to ensure our safety. Thus, as all branches of the military struggle to recruit, it is more vital now than ever to reward those who have chosen this path.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this bill which will rightfully protect the income of the brave heroes who put their lives on the line for our country and Commonwealth, and allow us to honor them for all of their sacrifices and contributions.

Introduced as HB22
