MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 5, 2024 03:53 PM
From: Representative Shelby Labs
To: All House members
Subject: Resident Military Hunting License

Currently, full-time active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces may only receive a discounted Resident Military Hunting License if they are assigned to a facility outside of this Commonwealth. This stipulation, requiring assignment out-of-state, severely limits the applicability of this special license and seems counter to the very name of the license itself.

To ease active-duty residents’ ability to hunt throughout the Commonwealth I am offering legislation that provides reduced-cost hunting licenses to all resident active-duty military personnel.

My legislation will provide our resident Armed Forces with one antlered deer tag, one fall turkey tag, one spring turkey tag, along with small game hunting privileges at a significantly lessened cost.

We entrust the security of our state and nation to our Armed Forces, and the least we can do in return is provide inexpensive access to hunting opportunities throughout the Commonwealth to all those who serve.

Please join me in supporting the hunters within our military.
