MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 10, 2024 01:21 PM
From: Representative Thomas H. Kutz
To: All House members
Subject: Allowing In-Person Pickup for Dealer Plates and Inspection Stickers

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that requires PennDOT to operate and maintain numerous in-person locations where an auto dealer may physically obtain dealer registration plates and for PA licensed inspection stations to physically obtain inspection stickers.

PennDOT no longer allows in-person pickup for dealer plates or inspection stickers at any of their locations. As a result, dealers and licensed inspection stations alike have experienced significant delays, stretching to weeks or even months. These prolonged delays can have detrimental effects on Pennsylvania’s automotive industry, causing operational setbacks, missed opportunities, and in some cases, financial losses
.
To address this pressing issue and promote efficiency, my proposed legislation would require PennDOT to open at least 5 in-person locations, spanning the different regions of the Commonwealth. My legislation would also require PennDOT to maintain a minimum number of set office hours at these locations to ensure our businesses get the help they need from their partner government agency.

It is our responsibility to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government services for businesses and individuals. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
